GENERAL ULTRASOUND

Abdomen / Upper abdomen ultrasound scan – private – $285

  • Preparation – Please have nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your examination (you may drink water only). Take medication as normal, diabetic patients please consult with your GP.
  • Examination time is 20 – 30 mins.

Gallbladder / Liver / Pancreas / Spleen ultrasound scan – private – $285

  • Preparation – Please have nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your examination (you may drink water only). Take medication as normal, diabetic patients please consult with your GP.
  • Examination time is 20 – 30 mins.

Renal tract ultrasound scan ( kidneys / bladder / prostate ) – $250

  • Preparation – We require you to have a full bladder at the time of the examination – empty your bladder 1.5 hours before your examination then drink  4 glasses of water, do not empty your bladder after this.
  • Examination time is 20 mins.

Abdomen and renal ultrasound – private – $285

Female pelvis / uterus / ovary ultrasound – private – $300

  • We do not perform any pregnancy ultrasound scans
  • Preparation – We require you have a full bladder at the time of the examination – Empty your bladder 1.5 hours before your examination then drink 4 glasses of water, do not empty your bladder after this.
  • Examination time is 20 – 30 mins.

Female abdomen and pelvis ultrasound – private – $350

  • Preparation – nothing to eat for 6 hours prior, empty your bladder 1.5 hours before the examination then drink 4 glasses of water, after this do not empty your bladder. Take medication as per normal, diabetic patients please consult with your GP.
  • Examination time is 40 mins.

Aorta surveillance ultrasound – private – $250

  • Preparation – Have nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours prior to your examination (you can drink water only). Take medication as per normal, diabetic patients please consult with your GP.
  • Examination time is 20 mins.

Abdominal wall / groin / hernia ultrasound – $250

  • Examination time is 20 mins, no preparation required.
  • Umbilical / inguinal / femoral / spigelian hernia assessed.

Neck / thyroid / salivary gland ultrasound – $250

  • Examination time is 20 mins, no preparation required.

Scrotum / testes ultrasound – $250

  • Examination time is 20 mins, no preparation required.

Scrotum and renal tract – $275

  • Examination time is 20 – 30 mins.
  • Preparation – We require you to have a full bladder at the time of the examination – Empty your bladder 1.5 hours before your examination then drink 4 glasses of water, after this do not empty your bladder.

Breast ultrasound – Single breast $250, both breasts $390

  • Examination time is 15 – 20 mins per breast, no preparation required.

Soft tissue mass / lump ultrasound – Private – $250

  • Examination time is 20 mins, no preparation required.
  • Lipoma / ganglion / nerve / muscle / fascia scan.

Foreign body ultrasound – Private – $250

  • Examination time is 20 mins, no preparation required.
  • ACC patients see above for any co payment required.

MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND SCANS

UPPER LIMB SCANS – Shoulder ultrasound scan , elbow , forearm , wrist , hand , thumb or finger , tendon , ligament , bursa, nerve, ganglion cyst , fascia, joint , volar plate. Bilateral scans are a cheap er low cost option.

  • MSK private scan price – single area $250, two areas $375.
  • Examination time is 20 mins – no preparation.

LOWER LIMB SCANS – Hip ultrasound , thigh , quadriceps , rectus femoris, gluteal, hamstring , trochanter , knee , patellar tendon , popliteal fossa , Baker’s cyst , calf , lower leg, gastrocnemius soleus muscles , ankle , Achilles tendon foot , toe , plantar fascia , fat pad, plantar plate , tendon , ligament , bursa , nerve Morton’s neuroma , stress fracture scan. Bilateral scans are a cheap er low cost option.

VASCULAR ULTRASOUND

DVT (Deep vein thrombosis) scan – 1 leg $300, both legs ($475)

  • ACC – no co payments except at Waimauku.
  • Examination time is 20 – 30 mins, no preparation required.

Carotid Artery ultrasound scan – $400

  • Examination time is 40 mins, no preparation required.

Renal artery Doppler ultrasound scan – $445

  • Examination time is 40 mins
  • Preparation – nothing to eat or drink (except sips of water) for 6 hours prior. Take medications as per normal, diabetic patients please consult with GP.
  • Colour Duplex and spectral Doppler technique.
